Reducing Regulatory Burdens

One Website for All Regulations

As an HR professional I have been inundated with emails and newsletters from the federal government, state government, benefit carriers, banks, and HR consultants. Often the emails will contain links to other sites -- IRS, SBA, OSHA, etc. Navigating the regulations has become tedious and frustrating especially when conflicting information is found.

I would be grateful for one website that HR professionals and business... more »

Unemployment Platform Development

Presently, the unemployment system is outdated. Once this pandemic event has subsided, the infrastructure, technology and overall process has to be evaluated at a state and national level. The bottlenecks, long hold periods and current staffing alignment have to be addressed. To hear that these systems are over 30 years old is troubling in this age of technology. We must give unemployment recipients and works a better... more »

Unemployment and HR help

It would be of great value to have a phone number, email, fax, etc. that is only specific to the employer for unemployment claims. The normal routes are not working.

I've had people that qualify for unemployment benefits, but have been rejected for UI benefits for up to 4 weeks. They've taken all the steps suggested via the ESD website to no avail. As the employer it would be nice to have a specific phone number to call... more »

PPP Loan Forgiveness

Many small business who qualify for the PPP Loan are being told if you have sufficient liquidity to weather the shutdowns that your loan may not be forgiven. Our business has a 6-12 month sales cycle and we are being advised to make a decision by May 7th 2020's safe harbor date. How can we prepare, plan and evaluate the impacts in our line of work when we wont be directly effected for such a period of time? And why would... more »

Privacy and liability concerns

As businesses reopen, there are concerns about legal issues arising out of exposure in the workplace, either by customers or employees. Although we have created policies that align with the CDC guidelines and the PA Department of Health guidelines, there is concern about employee medical data and communication to/from customers regarding exposure. What are the legal ramifications of 1) taking employee temperatures, and... more »

Employ the unemployed as OSHA and other inspectors

This is an opportunity to remotely train a significant portion of the population in proper worker safety, and training can be delivered remotely through a number of platforms, similar to Bloomberg's initiative with Johns Hopkins to train people in contact tracing. By providing a hotline and easily accessible reporting connected through local unemployment offices to trained individuals, you could easily increase the regulatory... more »

Community forums

To create more unity and help make sure citizens still feel like part of a community, why not start discussion forums or locally organized boards to help serve as a liaison between government and community? Community members can have a voice.

The communities with the lowest crime rates and highest quality of life KNOW they are part of a community (social cohesion). With all the bipartisanism that's been going on, reuniting... more »

Director of HR

During this pandemic (and maybe beyond) there should be a partnership with state Unemployment Agencies and employers. Employers that wish to should have the option to assist with the payment of claims in exchange for a reduced UI experience rating. Employers that opt in to manage payments could easily make direct payments to unemployed individuals deemed "eligible" by the state agency through our payrolls. Give us access... more »

TELE-COMMUTE PAIRING PROGRAM BY DOL or UNEMPLOYMENT

TELECOMMUTE PAIRING PROGRAM THROUGH DOL OR UNEMPLOYMENT

How does the government ensure people are looking for jobs during unemployment and social distancing? If there's a telecommute need, then there's a potential solution to get people employed. Tele-commuting is also very desirable to parents with young children, who already face thousands of dollars in child care expenses for summer camp, after school care or day... more »

Regulatory Sustainability

Regulations dictated by vested interest seeking n monetary gain from requiring a specific product, based on conjecture and speculation not grounded in geophysical, physical or organic science, should be properly vetted and eliminated before crippling micro and small businesses and "burdening" large businesses.

Lack of regulation, and anarchy are burdens to life as we know it and our future.

Fast-Tracking Certification

To speed employers' ability to hire workers and to enable locals to support their communities and families in this time of need, apprenticeships and other institutions that provide certification to students should have a separate track for gifted students who absorb the information rapidly and can demonstrate this through rigorous testing. The timetable to graduate from the apprenticeship would be reduced by a half or... more »

Reduced Regulation and Robust Software Provided by the Government

Any regulation that was relaxed should not be reinstated unless it was determined to have a profoundly negative impact. I am an advocate for all other regulations to be evaluated and relaxed. Regulations are a major deterrent for new business start-ups and further growth of established businesses.

For programs that must remain in place and requires reporting and auditing, the government should provide the safe software... more »
