Employers must agree to meet and enforce a standard of care for employees and customers/clients that includes assuring access to masks and other safeguards when appropriate such as face shields or plexi-glass protections, and gloves appropriate for the nature of the business, and meeting CDC recommended practices. In return for compliance they can be accorded a reasonable degree of protection from tort liability.
The importante of social distancing at workplaces must be well understood.
