Provide videoconference tools (Zoom or BlueJeans) to Older Adults

Older adults who are aging in place or living in independent housing communities will continue to be separated from society for the foreseeable future. Family members, once they go back to work, will have a hard time staying in touch with their loved ones. Older adults will have less of an opportunity to connect with their families and grandchildren. Isolation has been proven to be a major cause of depression and increase... more »

vulnerable members to work from home

DOL should define the list of vulnerable members with the help of the CDC and WHO bodies, and require those employees to work from home if their job allows it, until they can get vaccinated to better protect themselves. This would reduce the chances of healthcare facilities being overwhelmed.

Update: White House Officials have already defined the list of vulnerable members. All that needs to be done is now follow the... more »

Food and Work Provisions

There should be a partnership with an organization such as Meals on Wheels where members of the vulnerable population can register to get meals and groceries delivered by confirmed NEGATIVE individuals with proper PPE. As far as working is considered, for those that are capable of working from already, they should continue to do so, and if possible employers should make necessary arrangements to enable and support it.... more »

Making sure that the elderly and those at risk don't get sick.

The population who is most at risk need to be accommodated in all aspects. Supermarkets already are providing scheduled times for the elderly to shop, but not everyone who is immunocompromised is old. I think doctors should provide some sort of paperwork where those who have health issues that make them vulnerable to COVID19 can obtain a kind of permit or ID (similar to a handicap permit) that they can show to be able... more »

Time to go back to work, except the most vulnerable

While we open up businesses again, let's keep those who are vulnerable at home yet. Have a special "unemployment" fund for those who normally would be working but can't without risking their lives. Continue this until treatments improve, a vaccine arrives or we reach the end of the year. A doctors note may be required. Everyone else return to work. Retain distancing, hand washing and face coverings for those returning... more »

Foster Caregivers and Social Services

Most do not see Social Services or businesses serving the Foster Care and Family Stabilization programs as essential, even though they are essential. These business ensure that our most vulnerable stay safe and help them to thrive. The wages that these non-profit businesses pay come from Federal and State agencies, and are barely enough to get by. These wages average between 50% - 75% of similar wages in the for-profit... more »

Balancing the vulnerable and need for low risk people, whichis most of the population's needs

Since there is a common finding throughout the country that clusters of deaths are occurring in nursing homes, focus should be on those facilities and reducing risk to patients and their family members and the employees.

Other high-risk people with underlying health conditions may need to have different stay-at home recommendations than the general population.

There should be a public service ad campaign on TV (like... more »

Personal Choice

There shouldn't be a set requirement for the community classified as vulnerable. Continued education is great. Workplace cleanliness is great. It needs to be the individuals choice to continue to work in the workplace or to work from home.

Masks are intolerable for some people. They should not be required.

It does need to be required to not punish vulnerable employees for the need to work from home. That is the only... more »

Prioritizing people going back to work with Day programs for IDD and also child care.

As people start returning do their jobs, in my field, many will need day services for their son or daughter with IDD or they cant return to work. Same is true in for many people with children. We need to prioritize these parents for those services or they could get fired or cut off from benefits. In Ohio, the Covid 19 for persons with IDD has not been that high. Most agencies are used to cleaning and wearing PPE. You... more »

N-95 Masks Needed Face Masks Protect More For Exposing Others Not Protecting Against

Seeing Nancy Pelosi wearing her face mask around her neck(if Covid droplets on her neck and she places mask over mouth and nose-good chance she gets the virus) makes me cringe. I am asking that the government use the Defense Protection Act to ramp up production of N95 masks and distributing them to all that reside in the US- like stimulus checks- to decrease exposure from virus for both the user and anyone the y are in... more »

Decontaminate before entering care homes

I watched the DHS study.. ultraviolet light, heat, humidity kill the virus quickly. I believe a decontamination unit should be built at the entrance of our care facilities. We need to keep these facilities has virus free as possible. I have started a rough draft and believe this should be done.

Vulnerable Workers

We really need legislation that protects vulnerable workers. For those who are too vulnerable to return to workplaces that are unable to maintain social distancing guidelines, like the hospitality industry particularly, the vulnerable workers should be able to remain on their unemployment benefits. Our leader would be an American hero if we could pass this!!!!

Need additional policies protecting employees with disabilities and that are older employees.

I believe that there should be more federal, state policies protecting employees that have disabilities and that are

older. I have seen older employees being laid off after 55 years of age, or, those with disabilities that are not

supported on the job. I, think, that an employee should have more protections that protect them on their job from

employers that have so called "hidden agenda." On the other hand, there are... more »
